ON SITE: with Furniture Designer & Maker Ellen by Photographer Sylwia Grzegorzko

I'm a portrait and fashion photographer based in London, UK,  drawn to the energy of creative people and the spaces they make their own. I love visiting artists in their studios — chatting over coffee or a glass of wine while capturing something honest and human in their environment. These sessions are more than just photoshoots; they’re exchanges. I get to see how others work, think, and create, and it brings me closer to the wider creative world I’m part of. Sylwia Grzegorzko

I design and make furniture and fine objects characterised by simple, refined lines and a dedication to craftsmanship.

My work spans from utilitarian to sculptural, all made from carefully sourced wood — often from local woodlands — and crafted using a combination of traditional woodworking machines and hand tools in my workshop in St Leonards-on-Sea, UK.

I believe that beauty is in the wood and craftsmanship itself, and the design must then remain simple — often centred around a single focal feature, whether a form, a contrasting proportion, or an exposed joint that reveals the thinking behind the piece — while the rest remains aesthetically quiet.

Wood is an extraordinary material — not just to work with, but to live with and be surrounded by. I find endless inspiration in learning about it, and in the ongoing challenge of finding the equilibrium between integral strength and outer simplicity.

The current collection includes two distinct stools, sculptural spoons, bowls, and spinning tops— available in small batches or made to order.
