An independent filmmaker by trade, Dom shapes only a handful of boards each year in his spare time.

For about a decade he’s worked from this creative space on a farm just outside Byron Bay. A place dedicated entirely to refining the perfect board.

The process is seemingly equal parts meticulous as it is intuitive.

We spent the morning in the shaping bay, watching his careful attention to line and form, before seeing that precision give way to a spontaneous spray of colour,

a bright and freehanded artwork as the final layer before it’s sealed and ready to surf.
